3 month old post

Yes, I know your brother had many blog posts before he was 3 months, but keep in mind that instead of writing blogs about you, I am spending my time playing with you :)  It is a much greater challenge to write on this blog now that there are two of you.  My quiet time to write is next to none.  I also have double the clean up and double the laundry to work on when you guys are napping.  I work hard to get these things done while you are sleeping so when you are awake we can play.

You have been such an amazing baby!  These 3 months are typically the hardest with a newborn, but I feel like they have gone by so fast and without much incident.  We had a couple of hiccups with nursing and when you got a cold.  I try really hard not to compare you to your brother, but he is the only other infant that I know.  You are not a big eater like he was, so it has taken more of an effort on my part for us to find our grove with nursing.  But I think we have it down now.  I just had to learn that eating is not always high on your priority list and then figure out ways to make sure my milk supply stayed up.  However, you are great at not spitting up!  I love this, because with Walker I was constantly covered in spit up.  I thought you were going to have reflux, but I think I was just over feeding you...sorry!  It is amazing the difference between a baby that has reflux and spits up with one that does not.  I can actually lay you on your back to play without you spitting up for an hour afterwards.

After the first couple of weeks I started trying to get you on a schedule.  I have really had to let go of some of my type A personality control tendencies with this though.  It is way harder to get you on a schedule because we are out and about more with your brother.  You can blame him if you are a bad sleeper ;)  But seriously, this has been a stressful adjustment for me.  I worked hard to get Walker on a routine and we still live by it.  I think it helped with his development, sleep habits, and our attachment.  That is why it is so important to me.  I have stuck with it with you though, and I think we have done well.  You are such a laid back baby that you just go with the flow.  You only fuss when you are tired so that really helps.  When I have to wake you up from your nap to get into the car to go somewhere, or wake you up to put you in the baby carrier to go somewhere, you usually smile and then go back to sleep.  I am so thankful for that and I know your brother is too.

Our schedule has looked like this from about 3 weeks old until now:
7:30 - feed and then play in bed while we snuggle with Walker if he is awake
9:00 - nap wherever we are
10:30 - feed and more play time
12:00 - nap in your crib
1:30 - feed and more play time...typically we run errands or pick up your brother from Mom's day out
3:00 - nap
4:30 - feed and then work on dinner while you play in the kitchen with me
5:30 - short nap
6:30 - bath time
7:30 - feed and help me put your brother to bed
8:30 - your bedtime
in the beginning you would wake up about 12:30.  Then that got stretched to 2:00, and lately you have stretched it to 3:30 or 4.  For a few nights now, you only wake up at 3:30 to nurse and then sleep until 7:30 or 8.  However, sometimes you through that 12:30 back in there, but I think that is when you are congested and have trouble breathing.

When you were 2 months old, I slowly started going back to work in the evenings.  I planned on transitioning back slower than I have though.  Work has gotten really crazy busy and I have done a lot of praying for wisdom on how to balance it.  Our weekly schedule looks like this:
Mondays: Walker goes to MDO 9-2 so that is our time to spend just you and me
Tuesdays: We have time at home and then at 4 I go to work while one of your grandparents watches you at our house
Wednesdays: We have time at home and then at 4 I go to work and you and Walker go to Amy's house to play until your dad or I pick you up
Thursdays: Walker goes to MDO 9-2 so we get another day to spend together
Fridays: We play all day
Saturdays: Dad joins us and we play
Sundays: We have been having family church time because I have avoided taking you to the nursery during the flu season and before you had your shots, but we are now back to going since you are older.

At your two month dr. visit you were 12lbs and 22.5 inches.  That put you at 50% for height and 50% for weight.  I love that you were right in the middle of the charts :)

Here are a lot of pictures of the amazingness that has been our lives since you have joined us!

you went to the emergency room with a 101.1 fever.  they ran a bunch of tests and it was awful, but praise the lord you only had a cold.  Pa and Nahna came with us too.
